STINGRAY Rare Earth Magnetic Rod Particle Trap for chip basket
The StingRay magnetic filter removes ferrous, carbide, and grinding media contamination used in cutting and grinding from the parts washer cleaning solution. The StingRay magnetic filter removes particles in the single digit micron size, smaller than can be extracted by traditional filters. The removal of these particles results in longer cleaning solution life and reduces re-deposition on your clean parts. Magnetic filter rods are recommended to aid in meeting all Millipore requirements.
Magnetic Rod Particle Trap
StingRay Magnetic filter rods sit above the reservoir
- NO consumables used
- Single digit micron filtration
- Longer cleaning solution life
- Extend the life of other filters
- Assists meeting Millipore requirements
- Recycle removed contaminants
- Reduce disposal costs
- Reduce parts washer wear
The magnetic filter uses permanent magnets that require no power to operate and is always working. It has no moving parts requiring maintenance.
No consumables are used – contamination is quickly and easily removed as a semi dry 'cake' that is easily disposed of as scrap without losing cleaning solution.
Neodymium magnets encased in stainless steel rods capture ALL sizes of particles even one less than one micron. Permanent magnets are easy to clean and reuse. No media to buy. Neodymium, are rare earth material, is the strongest magnetic material. |
The StingRay magnetic rods fit into the chip basket option. One, two or three particle trap rods may be installed in your chip basket. The rods consist of high-intensity ‘rare-earth’ magnetic cores with 13,000 Gauss magnetic performance. The core rods are inserted into a sheath and fit into a holder mounted inside the chip basket.
Contaminated cleaning solution enters the StingRay magnetic filter housing from the pump suction strainer and travels through the matrix of core rods which attract and hold the ferrite particles. Clean solution leaves the stainless steel filter housing traveling to the pump intake port.
The placement of the magnetic cores in the slowest flow area is designed for maximum particle collection and protects the pump from hard metallic particle wear. The configuration of the core rods is such that pump inlet flow is maintained even when the magnetic core is full of contamination. Back pressure, which causes burst filter bags, does not occur. The cores are assembled into a cartridge housing suspended from the top of the reservoir cover. To clean the StingRay Magnetic Filter simply lift out the cartridge and remove the contamination to your waste drum from the rods using the built-in scraper tool. Cartridges can be removed and inspected at any time.
The StingRay filter cores use NdFeB Grade 42 magnets (Neodymium-Iron-Boron). This is the strongest magnet type rare earth material. The cylinder magnets are extremely powerful and should only be handled by people experienced with the power of neodymium magnets. Two of these stuck together will take most adults full strength to separate... if they are able to do so at all. Incredibly strong!
